Dear Neighbors,
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning. Residents are urged to seek shelter in a basement or an interior room. Chicago may see significant rainfall, flooding issues, and dangerous winds of over 75 miles per hour.
If you are experiencing storm-related issues such as fallen trees and limbs, downed power lines, traffic signal and electricity outages, or other damage, please submit a service request by calling 3-1-1 or visiting 311.chicago.gov. Reporting helps City departments prioritize and deploy crews where they are needed most as soon as it is safe to do so.
Our office is also here to help! If you need assistance filing a service request or are experiencing an urgent situation please submit a request at 40thward.org/contact or call us at (773) 654-1867. If it is an emergency situation, please call 911.
You may notice standing water in streets or alleys following heavy rainfall; this is expected as part of Chicagoβs combined sewer system process for managing large volumes of water and prevents basement flooding. If water lasts for over 24 hours after the rain has stopped, you can submit a water on the street service request to 311.
To stay informed, we encourage you to download the Chicago OEMC App or sign up for emergency alerts at Chicago.gov/OEMC for weather conditions, live updates, and safety tips.
We appreciate your patience as crews will be working nonstop to address storm impacts in order of severity.
Stay safe and take care!
Yours in Service and Community,
