Dear Neighbors,
I hope your 2026 is off to a great start!
This week we celebrated the Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Mardi Gras, and Ash Wednesday, and I’m sure there are other celebrations I’m forgetting.
However you may be celebrating, I wish you, your family, and friends well.

Formed several working groups to ensure that the Mayor follows through with the city budget that was passed in December 2025. There are concerns that the administration may "slow walk" some aspects of the budget; this group will make sure it is being appropriated as intended.

🏠 Call for Hearing to Examine Chicago Housing Authority's Compliance with Federal Disability Laws
Calling for the Committee on Housing and Real Estate to hold a public hearing to review whether the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is fully complying with federal disability laws.
This hearing would examine how CHA handles requests for reasonable accommodations, the status of its pending voluntary compliance agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and what corrective actions, if any, have been taken to address identified issues.

Directed the Chicago Department of Transportation, in coordination with the City’s Chief Information Officer, to explore new software that would help the City better manage infrastructure like sidewalks and other public assets.
The goal is to reduce repair backlogs, better manage risk, and prioritize capital improvement funding. Within six months, CDOT will report back on whether moving forward with this technology is feasible, with the option to pilot the software if funding is available.

🔢 Require Comptroller to Confirm Amount of Debt Due by Employees of Certain Sister Agencies
Introduced an ordinance to address debt collection of city departments and sister agencies. Public servants are stewards of the community, trusted with providing services to constituents citywide. It is crucial to ensure they are in good standing regarding debt owed to the city. This uncollected debt represents a staggering $23.5 million - that has to change.
