Dear Neighbor,

Welcome to another Wellness Wednesday.

When we think about strength training, many people focus on appearance. But the truth is, resistance training offers benefits that go far beyond how we look. Just a few sessions each week can help improve muscle strength, support a healthy metabolism, strengthen bones and joints, and even boost mental health by reducing stress and improving focus.

The good news is that you don't need an expensive gym membership to get started. Bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, and light weights can all help you build strength and improve your overall health. The key is consistency.

Let's continue taking steps toward better health together—one workout, one walk, and one healthy choice at a time.

As we continue to prioritize wellness in the 6th Ward, I also want to invite you to join us for our 6th Ward Gospel Run Pop-Up on Saturday, June 27 at

8:00 AM at Cole Park (361 E. 85th Street).

This free community event will bring together neighbors for a morning of faith, fellowship, movement, and wellness. Whether you're an experienced runner, a casual walker, or simply looking to connect with your community, there's a place for you.

Another way to stay healthy is to find physical activities you genuinely enjoy—and that's exactly what Chicago Steppin' offers.

Steppin' is more than a dance. It's a great form of low-impact exercise that helps improve cardiovascular health, coordination, balance, and mobility while bringing people together through music and fellowship.

That's why I'm inviting you to join us for Steppin' in the Shade on Sunday, June 28th at 5:00 PM in Cole Park,

361 E. 85th Street.

As we continue our Wellness Wednesday journey, I encourage you to find ways to stay active that fit your lifestyle. Whether it's strength training, joining us for the Gospel Run Pop-Up, or stepping with friends in the park, every step you take is an investment in your health and well-being.

Together, we're building a healthier, stronger, and more connected 6th Ward—one workout, one walk, and one dance at a time.

I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming wellness events.

Warm regards,

Alderman William Hall
