An apology to our neighbors

October 7, 2026

Hi neighbors,

I want to directly apologize for how I described conversations around Palmer Square Park in yesterday's newsletter. While I do believe in exploring options for infrastructure changes and traffic safety adjacent to Palmer Square Park, my language was needlessly combative and dialectical. There do not need to be competing sides in addressing traffic safety; I believe we are all mutually interested in the safety of our neighbors.

I write the opening of our newsletters directly and the responsibility for any harm or hurt is on me personally. To those hurt by my choice of words or description of this ongoing conversation, you have my sincere apology.

Respectfully,

Ald. Daniel La Spata
